Veterinary Technician National Exam

Veterinary Technician National Exam

The Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE®) evaluates the competency of veterinary technicians. Most states and provinces require a passing score for a veterinary technician to be credentialed.

We own and administer the VTNE, and we provide your score to the state or province in which you’ll practice, but we don’t license or credential veterinary technicians. Credentials are provided by the state or province in which you practice.

We do maintain a Board and Agency Directory so you can find out how to get in touch with your state or provincial agency to get more information about getting licensed. You can also check our Getting Your License page for a general overview of the process.
