Rescheduling Your Exam

If you do not take the exam during the testing window for which you applied, you must submit a new VTNE online application and pay the full fee to take the VTNE during a future window.

To change an exam date, time or location (based on seat availability) within the same exam window, you must reschedule online through your PSI portal at least 48 hours before your scheduled exam appointment.

You may change your selected exam window once for a $90 administrative fee, per application. Your request must be submitted via email.

  • You must reschedule at least 48 hours before your scheduled exam appointment or before the end of the exam window.
  • Failure to take the exam as scheduled will result in forfeiture of the full exam fee.
  • After the one-time window transfer, you will not be able to move your exam again. You will need to reapply and pay the full exam fee for additional attempts.

There are two types of absences, excused and unexcused. Please review the following to determine which absence applies to you.

  • If the test center is open, you are expected to arrive for your appointment or forfeit all fees.
  • If the center is closed and appointments are canceled, you will be contacted by PSI to reschedule your appointment within the current exam window.

An excused absence is an emergency that makes it impossible for you to keep your exam appointment. Therefore, you may be eligible to reschedule your exam at no charge with appropriate documentation. Qualifying excused absences are listed below:

  • Serious illness or death of an immediate family member (parents, spouses, grandparents, siblings, and dependents).
  • Disabling traffic accident (damage inflicted on a vehicle resulting in further damage to the vehicle should it continue to be operated).

Please review the Candidate Handbook for more information. If you believe you have a qualifying excused absence, you must email us within 48 hours of your scheduled exam time.

If you do not appear for your exam appointment or do not reschedule your appointment prior to 48 hours of your scheduled exam time, it will be considered unexcused.

If you do not have an excused absence for missing your exam, you will forfeit all exam fees. Examples of unexcused absences include the following:

  • You arrived late to the testing center and are denied entry.
  • The name on your ID does not exactly match the name you listed when applying for the exam and are denied entry.
  • You are unable to launch the Live Remote Proctored Exam due to trying to use any unsupported devices.
  • You did not complete your exam or reschedule your exam before the exam window closes.
