Transferring Your License

Transferring Your License

If you’re relocating or expanding your practice to include multiple jurisdictions, it’s important to become licensed wherever you intend to work.

In the veterinary community, we often refer to this as a license transfer, but keep in mind that getting licensed in another jurisdiction doesn’t mean you’re giving up your existing license. As long as you meet each jurisdiction’s requirements, you can get and maintain licenses in multiple jurisdictions.

At the AAVSB, we’ve got services that can help you if you:

  • Are moving to a different jurisdiction and need to get licensed to practice there
  • Want to get licensed to practice in multiple jurisdictions at the same time

Navigating the licensure process and differences between jurisdictions can be daunting. Research, paperwork, and phone calls take time and the process can be confusing. The AAVSB is here to help.

We’re the only organization in the United States or Canada to offer license transfer services for veterinarians and veterinary technicians, in which we help you provide and communicate the necessary information to the appropriate regulatory board(s). To learn more, explore our VAULT service options.

A MyAAVSB account gives you access to a secure database to store your license information, making it easier and more convenient to renew or transfer your license.

If you’ve taken advantage of any of our services, you already have a MyAAVSB account. If not, it’s free to create one. If you need help accessing or creating your account, let us know
